HallHopper helps you browse campus dining menus, save favorites, and share reviews. This policy explains what information we use on hallhopper.app and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address, display name, account identifier, and sign-in information. Supabase handles password authentication and email verification.
  • Your choices: your selected school, optional dietary preferences, favorites, ratings, review comments, and the dates those reviews were created or changed. School and dietary preferences saved on this device may be added to your profile when you sign in.
  • Support messages: your email address and anything you send to support@hallhopper.app. Please avoid including passwords, verification codes, or sensitive personal information.
  • Technical information: our hosting, authentication, and email providers receive information such as IP addresses, browser details, request times, and email delivery events to provide, secure, and troubleshoot their services.

How we use information

We use this information to create and secure accounts, send confirmation and password-reset emails, remember your preferences, show dining menus, save favorites, publish and moderate reviews, answer support requests, and maintain the app. Dietary preferences are optional and are used to filter food; you do not need an account to browse menus.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small files a website can save in your browser. Local storage and session storage are similar tools for remembering information. HallHopper currently uses browser storage for these features:

  • Sign-in session: Supabase stores authentication tokens locally so you can stay signed in. Logging out removes the current local sign-in session.
  • Preferences: local storage remembers your home school and dietary filters between visits.
  • Recent searches: the app keeps your last six search terms in local storage on this browser.
  • School browsing: session storage remembers the school you are temporarily browsing for that browser session.

Some storage entries still use our former name, DineLine. You can remove them through your browser’s site-data settings. Clearing site data may sign you out and reset local preferences; it does not delete information saved in your account. Hosting and security providers may also use cookies to protect and deliver the site.

We are applying to Google AdSense to support HallHopper with advertising. Our site verification tag and ads.txt file identify our publisher account; they do not load ads or set advertising cookies. Advertising is not enabled yet.

Advertising and your choices

When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to HallHopper or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalize ads based on visits to this and other sites. Ad services may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser details, and interactions with ads.

You can manage personalized advertising in Google My Ad Center and opt out of participating vendors’ personalized advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services and review Google’s privacy policy.

Before enabling advertising, we will provide the consent notices and choices required for the visitors and regions we serve. You can continue browsing dining menus without creating an account.

What is shared and with whom

Your ratings, review comments, display name, and review dates are visible to other visitors. Favorites and account preferences are intended for your own account. Avoid posting private information in reviews.

We use Cloudflare to host and protect the app, Supabase for accounts and database services, and Resend for account emails and support mail. They process information needed to provide those services. Fonts load from Google Fonts, and some dining photos load from external image hosts; those requests share technical information such as your IP address with the host.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information when required by law or when necessary to investigate abuse, protect users, or secure the service. Providers may process information in countries other than where you live, including the United States.

Your choices and data requests

  • Edit your display name, school, and dietary preferences in Profile.
  • Remove favorites and edit or delete your own ratings through the app.
  • Log out or clear your browser’s site data to remove locally saved information.
  • Email support@hallhopper.app to request access, correction, or deletion of your account information. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you before acting.

We keep account information while it is needed to provide the service. Support records, security records, and backups may be retained as needed for their purpose or legal obligations. Rights to access, delete, object to, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information depend on where you live; contact us to make a request.

Children’s privacy

HallHopper is designed for college dining and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.

Updates and contact

We will post changes here and update the date above. For questions about privacy, cookies, or your information, email support@hallhopper.app.
